He attended Concordia College, St. Paul, Minnesota (1968-72) where he met Elizabeth (Mueller), his wife. They have three daughters. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, Illinois in 1976. He finds relaxation in doing landscape and vegetable gardening at home, taking long walks with Elizabeth, "antiquing", as well as spending quiet time in the summer at the lake shore. Up until 2001 he enjoyed helping with the high school wrestling team as a volunteer assistant coach. Prior to serving at Zion, he served at Peace Lutheran Church, Antigo, Wisconsin, for 25 years and prior to that he was the pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ruston, Louisiana. He loves the privilege of being able to share the truth of Jesus Christ with the Zion congregation and the Hopkins community.
